Jerseytjej tagged me so here goes:

  1. I like the smell of mothballs. Don’t ask how I fit my nose between their tiny legs. I mean the chemical anti-insect stuff that you put among clothes and whatnot. I guess I remember it from childhood or something and it reminds me of things that are clean.

  2. I spend a lot of time in la-la land. A LOT. I think this is healthy and relieves stress. It contributes to my girlish good looks.

  3. I used to think Carlton from Fresh Prince was the tops. I especially liked his singing. I love those old songs too. I know the actor himself might not be a Tom Jones fan but two-stepping, investment-banking, finger-snapping, square Carlton was the man for me.

  4. I can hand wash like a backwoods washerwoman. I could do a whole washing machine load if I really wanted to (no sheets or towels though—everything has a limit). It’s something people used to do where I came from. Imagine my astonishment visiting some cousins 4 years ago to see a washing machine in their house. I guess everybody wants soft hands—myself included. Can’t tell the last time I hand washed more than a face-cloth.

  5. I don’t like thinking about the past—even mundane memories. It hurts a lot because it’s gone yet so vivid--almost like time travel. Last week I remembered how it felt before school let out for summer in Junior High School. I felt so wrung out when I finally came back to 2007.

  6. I haven’t written a complete poem in 8 months or more. But when I think about writing something, I feel so strongly I am overwhelmed. So I don’t do it. I’d rather be just plain whelmed for the time being.

  7. Given the choice between watching a movie and reading a book, I pick the book. Even if it’s nonfiction. Not sure if I need that netf.lix account really. I've been watching Sideways for three days now and can't finish it.
And since I was tagged to do this post by Jerseytjej and have to tag 7 people, here goes. And I'm sure you'll feel free to ignore it.

you--you are lurking and you never leave comments. I tag you.

LOL@you!
When ever the kids want fish sticks, my husband always makes a snide comment about the number of fish that have to be castrated to make one stick...I also like to smell the balls of the moth...Maybe it is an east coast thing. It gives me comfort, like reminding me to stay warm in the cold. You have a lot of lurkers...

I think your washing skills are not limited to clothes. I remember when all of us did some cooking at Carol's place, and you washed the chicken pan that was especially sauced over and burnt into- clean as a whistle. Sparkling. You didnt even leave the pan to soak.
I like the scent of mothballs too- my mom kept them in the linen closet and would put them in the vacuum cleaner, it would freshen up the carpets. That is one of the scents that reminds me of my childhood.

I would never wash things by hand. I'm traumatized by the amount of chores I had to do as a young boy. I learned to use the washing machine early and had to wash everyone's clothes in the house.

Lurking? I never lurk, my dear.

Well, hardly ever.

I hink I'll take you up on the tag, though.

Thanks for thinking of me.

Camphor balls -- didn't start callin' them mothballs 'til adulthood -- they're like de fragrance of childhood. So Qt: "Don’t ask how I fit my nose between their tiny legs." Carlton singin' "It's Not Unusual" is a most entertainin' music-moment in TV history. Washin' by hand is nice therapy -- baby-clothes R best handwashed IMO.

@jersey

I love that about the castrated fish!

@willowtree
thank you for remembering that.
Doesn't Carol's Place sound like a nice restaurant that serves THE BEST hot cocoa?

@Amadeo
I hope your roomie is sharing those chores nicely.

@owen

I am relating to that now. It has been over a month since I wrote a god poem. My mind drifts and it is hard to capture things right now. I have tons of lines run through my head yet to write them down feels like torture.

I hope your writing comes back soon.

As Melody said they call them Camphor balls here. I don't like the smell and I hear they give cancer, not sure how true that is. I can't see myself choosing a book over TV!

Ha ha. I like the one about mothballs. Yeah. Carlton was the man. And it's great, the whole washing thing. Not many girls have use around the house these days.
