*applause*

I think this comment deserved real applause.
I found it on New York Magazine's website in response to a discussion of McCain referring to Obama as "that one" in the Ocotber 7 debate. Great.

McCain was born 73 years ago in Colonial (American) Panama. His life story and career are that of America's legacy boys who failed upward, courtesy of influential and wealthy fathers -- and feel entitled to accomodation. Stuck in a timewarp, Senator McCain CANNOT accept Senator Obama as his peer. He doesn't SEE Senator Obama --his talents, skills, abilities, etc. He doesn't LISTEN to what Senator Obama is saying, or not. He has DISAPPEARED Senator Obama and replaced him with a "boogey man" - to survive and, as was totally acceptable 50 years ago -- make Senator Obama into "the Other" as a means to advantage himself, preferentially.

Legacy boys of the "Mad Men" era -- and the strings their fathers (should not) pulled for them, are the real AFFIRMATIVE ACTION beneficiaries. Bottom of the class men who racheted upward to the top of the heap - over everyone else, including women and minorities -- IS John McCain's reality. The problem, is that mediocre reality which forces Americans to CHOOSE between our self-interest, security, economic security and future prosperity -- and the wealthy legacy boys -- has exploded in our faces on every conceivable level across the spectrum of American life.

ENOUGH!

John McCain has been the beneficiary of the best America has to offer -- and, he is the only POW who has commoditized the experience to grab even more. We are seeing a foot stomping hissy fit -- by a 73 year old legacy boy, who wants to replace another.

ENOUGH!

And just to throw in my 5 cents
the "that one" remark was rude, yes, but no, not racist.
